The lines themselves are terse and read as instructions to a worker rather than as doctrine. Brave soldiers, they say, need neither orders nor constant encouragement; pursue the lines laid down long ago and we will look out for results. The reasoning is given in a single compressed sentence — that as said in The Secret Doctrine, Ātma is Karma, so all results flowing from sincere work will be right *if you are detached*, which makes the detachment rather than the effort the operative condition. The closing line is characteristically unsentimental: be wise and prudent, and expect nothing, for this is an age of darkness. The table that follows takes up most of the file and is what makes it worth downloading. It sets the immortal higher triad against the mortal lower tetrad in two columns — the true individuality, the Sutrātman of the Upanishads and the imperishable monad of Ātman, Buddhi and Manas on one side; the false individuality of the man who identifies with the personal and transient on the other — and carries the correspondences down through the macrocosmic planes and the bodily organs, with the heart representing the higher triad and the liver and spleen the quaternary.
