Philaletheians are Eclectic Theosophists living the Life

The True Colours of Man

Compiled and edited by Hieronymus von Mansfeld, Philaletheians DE · Integrative Theosophical Studies, Series 3 — The Heart Doctrine · 104 pages

The only one of the Major Works not compiled by Dr Bartzokas, this volume was assembled by Hieronymus von Mansfeld, Director of Psychic Research at Philaletheians DE, and first published in 2015. Its subject is correspondence — specifically, the relations held to obtain between colour, sound and number, and between those and the constitution of man. The introductory notes set out the framework: the Seven Primordial Lights manifested from Light Unmanifested are Divine Principles, and the principles of man are their bright reflections, a Great Sacrifice. Tattvas and Bhutas are named as principles and aspects of Cosmos and Man, Lokas and Talas as the divine and worldly planes of being, and colours and sounds as spiritual numerals — colour being Spirit or Atman, sound the Voice or Buddhi, and the proportion of numbers the Word or Higher Manas.

What distinguishes the book from the rest of the series is how much of it is given over to caution. A section of warnings to students of esoteric philosophy opens with Bertram Keightley on how the subject should be approached, and goes on to precipitated Karma, to unclean thought, and at some length to phallicism and sexual worship — the argument being that the organs the modern world associates with shame were held by the ancients to be the most holy, and that the distinction matters. From there the study moves to the correspondences between the birth of a Kosmos, a world, a planetary being and the Earth, to the seven layers of embryonic development, and to the relation between what it calls the lofty and degraded poles. The front cover shows the Inner Constitution of Man, the Jewel of the Universe.
