The Interests of Man Are Sought in the Kingdom of Heaven

An eight-page compilation opened by a contents and abstract of central ideas. It is one of the more recently revised files in the section, its version line dated 30 August 2024 where most of the section stands at May 2023.

The governing claim is given in the title: that the interests of man and his welfare have to be searched for in the Kingdom of Heaven, far above and beyond the realm of the underworld. The abstract sets out the steps. Once man enters the garden of delight he is obliged to deliver from ignorance those who have not yet obtained their inheritance and inward beatitude. Whoever sets himself in opposition to the Immutable Law of Harmony — perfect equilibrium — is described as ensnared in a small rival universe before being crushed out of existence by brute force when he least expects it. A passage on the senses argues that the ancients divided them into five simply because their teachers stopped at hearing, man's auditory faculty having been inner and spiritual in the ethereal First Root-Race and dwarfed to the outer and physical by the beginning of the Fifth. Karma is then said to be a less bewildering subject once it is granted that man's welfare is to be sought in the higher regions rather than on earth. Nature is described as having an antidote for every poison and a reward for every suffering, though her laws cannot be violated by the profane with impunity; and the eternal struggle between matter and spirit, the two opposing forces reacting upon each other, is called the guarantor of harmony and justice. A section on gravity contrasts the materialists, for whom it is the king of the imponderables, with the students of the Sacred Science, for whom it is one attribute of differentiation manifesting as attraction and repulsion between states of matter.
