Philaletheians are Eclectic Theosophists living the Life

Judge on the True Theosophist's Path

William Quan Judge · Theosophy and Theosophists Series · 105 pages

*One hundred and five pages, the largest file in this batch and one of the largest in the section.* Its subtitle gives the frame — theosophy is the shoreless ocean of the Spirit of Truth, in heaven and in the pure heart — but the file itself is a systematic course rather than a meditation, and its contents page is the reason to open it.

Seventeen key concepts are set out by Judge, each with its own numbered section and page reference, so a reader can go straight to whichever one they need. They begin with Theosophy and the Masters and General Principles, then take the cosmology: The Earth Chain, and the Septenary Constitution of Man. From there the sequence works downward through the principles one at a time — Body and Astral Body, Kama-Desire, Manas — before turning to the doctrine the whole system rests on, with three consecutive sections on reincarnation: a first, a second, and then Arguments Supporting Reincarnation, which is unusual in this library for treating the case as something to be argued rather than asserted. Karma and Kama Loka follow, and further sections continue the sequence. Because each concept is separately headed and paginated, the file works as a reference book: someone who wants Judge on karma alone can find it in a page, and someone reading straight through gets an ordered introduction to the entire system from one hand. Of everything in this batch, it is the file to recommend to a reader who wants the teaching set out plainly rather than argued against an opponent.
