Proposition 3: Seven Wars in Heaven and on Earth

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky · Secret Doctrine's Third Proposition Series · 12 pages

Twelve pages with a contents page of central ideas. *It is one of the most usefully organised files in this section*, because the seven wars are numbered and each gets its own headed entry, so the whole scheme can be taken in at a glance.

The premise is stated first — that the seen are mere shadows of the unseen, and that reading them rightly brings the Dragon of esoteric wisdom out of darkness. Then the sequence. The First War is in the Night of Time. The Second is the War of the Angels, and the file's comment on it is pointed: even to this day, it says, Christianity and Masonry continue propping up the myth of the fallen angels — which is the reading this whole section exists to correct. The Third is the War of the Titans, placed historically between Atlanteans and Aryan adepts, the sorcerers of the Fourth Race against the initiates of the Sacred Island. The Fourth, between the sons of man and the Sons of Wisdom, is turned inward and becomes a description of initiation: death and spiritual resurrection for the neophyte, the suffering Chrēstos on his trial of life and his new birth by regeneration as Christos. The Fifth is between the adepts of the White Lodge and those of the Black. The Sixth is between light and darkness at the end of the Fourth Round, after which, it says, men will arise from the dead and will die no more. The scheme is thus not a history of battles but a single conflict told at seven different scales, from the cosmic to the personal, which is what makes the file worth reading whole.
