Crowning Achievement of the Great Sacrifice

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky · Secret Doctrine's Third Proposition Series · 35 pages

Thirty-five pages with a contents page of key concepts and a foreword by the series editor. *It is the best-organised summary of the root-races in this section* — each race gets its own numbered part, and each part is broken into the same headings, so the sequence can be compared step by step.

The First Root-Race, the Shadows, is treated under man's dual origin and birth, its esoteric symbology, its esoteric ethnology, its cognition and speech, and its demise and death — that last heading mattering because these beings are not described as dying in the ordinary sense. The Second Root-Race, the Sweat-Born, covers how man's physical frame developed, how an asexual form budded from a sexless shadow, and how the sweat-born of the second race evolved into the egg-born of the third: the point throughout being that reproduction itself changes from race to race, and that sexual generation is late rather than original. The Third Root-Race, the Lemurians, is where the file's title is explained. Humanity, watched by angels, became ready to receive the solar spark; then the Watchers descended upon earth and reigned over men who were themselves — the Great Sacrifice being the descent of those higher beings into human form to quicken the mind of a creature that had a body but not yet a mind of its own. That event is the whole subject of the Third Proposition, and this file gives the clearest short account of it. A reader wanting the same material at very great length should turn to "Evolution of the human life-wave on earth" in this section.
