The governing claim is about motion. Universal or cosmic mind is called eternal, perpetual motion, needing no physico-chemical or mechanical brain as an organ of transmission — where physical science sees in motion only a blind unreasoning force or law, occult science traces it to its origin, identifies it with the universal Deity and names it the Great Breath. What makes the file unusual is the detour it takes to argue this. A long middle section descends to cell biology, describing the lymphatic cells issuing from nests of adipose tissue and squeezing through the epithelium to the surface of the intestines, absorbing drops of fat and travelling home loaded with their prey — and drawing from it the general proposition that the faculty of selecting food, assimilating the useful and rejecting the harmful is common to all unicellular organisms, which is offered as evidence of intelligence at a level where science allows none. From there it moves by way of etymology rather than argument: the Latin lympha is derived from the Greek nymph, an inferior goddess, the Muses being sometimes called nymphs by the poets — whence the phrase for anyone in a state of rapture, seer, poet or madman, that he has been caught by nymphs — and in India the same lymph-nymph is a goddess of moisture fabled to be born from the pores of an aquatic deity. The opening instruction sets the tone for the whole: to pierce the puffed-up bladder of materialism, which is as empty as it is dilated.
