Proposition 1: The Three Logoi Diagram

*A single large chart, and the one sheet that holds the whole of the First Proposition in view at once. It is headed How the Heavenly Snails clothed themselves in the Fabric of Darkness, with a reference to The Secret Doctrine* volume I page 103, and it is the diagram to which the file "Proposition 1 - Diagram Notes" is the accompanying commentary.

The sheet is landscape and reads left to right. The left third is headed Parabrahman — Absoluteness, in white on black, with the subtitle Precosmic, non-atomic differentiations, beyond Space and Time; running down its outer edge are the labels Root of Spirit, Rootless Root and Root of Matter. Within it a red circular figure carries the Point in Circle, with a note that turned inwardly the point stands for unmanifested Divine Thought or Wisdom of Love, and turned outwardly for a ray from the Central Spiritual Sun. Beneath it, on a grey panel, sits Mulaprakriti — Eternal Substance, Noumenon of Matter, First Cause and Maha-Buddhi or Mahat, Eternal Egg and Latent Germ, Mother-Lotus, Plato's Chaos, Watery Abyss, Womb of the Universe to be, Adi-Gaia — described as central point, brightness and expansion, acting as a veil or invisible robe over Parabrahman. The right two-thirds, headed Cosmogenesis and Anthropogenesis, holds three tall columns for the First, Second and Third Logos, each stacked with its equivalents across traditions: unconscious, semi-conscious and self-conscious Universal Mind; Adi-Bodhi or Dorjechang, Dorjesempa, and the Divine or Noetic Light of the World; Plato's Æther, Plato's Father and Second God, Plato's Son; Valentinus's Propator, the Heavenly Man or Adam-Kadmon, and Our Father in Heaven of the Churches. Across the centre runs Fohat, the evolving electrical force that keeps expanding consciousness by informing, energising, differentiating, individualising and motivating all; below the second and third columns are Natura Naturans and Natura Naturata. A long alphabetical list of names and epithets fills the lower left — Absolute Being and Non-Being, Abstract Light Penetrating All, Abyss or Chaos, All-Universal Mind, Agha, Argo, Arche, Ark, Cause Ever-acting, Cause of the Great Architect, Dhyani-Chohans of Sentient Life, Diancia-Ennoia, Essence-Spirit of the Universe, Eternal Intelligence-Wisdom, Jivatman or Life Principle, Monad or Ruling Principle, Mother-Matter or Eternal Egg, Neith, Noot, Nous, Nyx, Night, Perpetually Reasoning Divinity, Self-Analysing Reflection, Spiritual Fire Ever-concealed, and The One and Only Reality. Three columns of small explanatory text run along the foot, on the First Logos as Divine Intelligence, the Second as the Dawn of Intelligence, and the Third as the Light of Intelligence and Life.
