Drawing 6: Caduceus of the Spheres

*A single-page drawing, the sixth of the seven, made after The Divine Plan*, page 218. Like Drawing 5 it carries no commentary of its own and refers the reader to "Keys to the Mystery Language" in the Theosophy and Theosophists Series.

This is the same winged staff and twin serpents as Drawing 5, set this time against a blue ground and with the element that gives it its name added: a column of coloured spheres threaded down the staff from top to bottom. A large translucent white sphere crowns the whole above the serpent's head; below the wings comes a small pale blue one, then green, then deep blue, then yellow, then red, and finally a small white sphere at the foot where the serpents' tails cross. The two serpents, one dark and one white, coil around that column so that each sphere sits at or between their crossings — which is what makes the drawing a diagram rather than an ornament: the spheres are the same seven globes shown ringed in Drawing 1, here set out as a vertical scale, with the two currents winding between them. Taken together with Drawing 1, which places a small caduceus at the centre of the ring of globes, it shows the same doctrine drawn twice, once as a circle and once as a ladder.
