*A single-page diagram*, the third of the seven, narrowing the scale from the planetary chain to one globe: the human period of activity on planet Earth in this fourth round, inaugurated by Manu Vaivasvata, consisting of seven distinct root-races which the sheet is careful to say lie outside any purely anthropological division.

The centre of the sheet is a single seven-pointed star whose arms are drawn as feathered crystals, each in its own colour — the gold arm largest and uppermost, with pale grey, green, yellow, red, deep red and dark blue arms around it — so that the seven root-races appear as seven radiations of one figure rather than a sequence of separate things. Below the star runs a horizontal band of twisted colour, like a braided cord, carrying the same colours through in order. The note at the left states what separates one race from the next: in Bhaumika Manvantara every root-race is separated by a catastrophe, a cataclysm, described as a kind of minor pralaya, and ever-recurring cataclysms by fire and water close the cycle of every root-race. A second note explains obscuration in the same homely terms used across this series — that when a globe goes into dormancy every quality including heat retires from it and it remains in statu quo, like the sleeping beauty, until Fohat, the Prince Charmant, awakens it with a kiss. The long passage across the top gives the doctrine the picture serves: that mankind from the first race to the seventh is one and the same company of actors, descended from higher spheres to perform their tour on this planet, brought down by cyclic law to the reversed apex of matter whose bottom we have already struck, and to be raised again by the same law of spiritual gravity to spheres purer than those we started from. A table at the right gives each race's duration, from 1,574,344 years for the first to 11,020,408 for the seventh, totalling 44,081,632.
