When Mother Becomes Immaculate

Two pages from the Transactions of the Blavatsky Lodge in Blavatsky Collected Writings volume X, pages 396-97. The format is a question put by a student and answered, with the relevant śloka from the Stanzas of Dzyan printed first.

The śloka concerns those who descend from the primordial seven and are born from the primordial flame, and the note quoted from The Secret Doctrine says that the first Primordials are the highest beings on the scale of existence and proceed from Father-Mother. The question asked is whether Father-Mother here is synonymous with the Third Logos. The answer is that the first primordial seven are born from the Third Logos before it is differentiated into the Mother — at which stage it is pure primordial matter in its first primitive essence, Father-Mother potentially. From that follows the point the file is named for, and it is a point about when a word can properly be used. Mother becomes the immaculate mother only when the differentiation of spirit and matter is complete, because otherwise the qualification would mean nothing: nobody would speak of pure spirit as immaculate, since it cannot be anything else. The mother is therefore the immaculate matter before it is differentiated under the breath of the pre-cosmic Fohat, at which point it becomes the immaculate mother of the Son — the manifested universe in form — and it is that manifested universe which begins the hierarchy ending in humanity.
