Theosophical Jewels: The Path of Renunciation
Philaletheians UK · Constitution of Man Series · 1 page
The companion to The Path of Action, and the reverse of it in every respect. Here the beads lighten as they travel: from black and smoke-grey stones at the left, through amethyst and deep violet, into pale lilac, opal, moonstone and clear crystal at the right, closing on a large rose-quartz bead — with a short strand of small bright beads, red, green and blue, hanging below.
The caption reads: The Path of Renunciation, ascending Arc of Consciousness, from Darkness to Light. Where the Path of Action runs from light into darkness, this runs back out of it, and the pair together give the two halves of the cycle that the third plate shows whole. The doctrine behind them is the one set out in Devotion, Worship, Loyalty in Confusing Words, where true devotion is called characteristic of the aspirant on the Path of Renunciation and pseudo-devotion of the other path — so the two plates are the visual form of a distinction the prose draws repeatedly. The section list offers this one both as a PDF and as a JPEG.
