Theosophical Jewels: Man, the Jewel of the Universe

Hieronymus von Mansfeld · Constitution of Man Series · 1 page

A single-page colour plate by Hieronymus von Mansfeld, the companion to Cosmos and Deity in Man in batch 1 and issued for the same occasion — the 140th anniversary of the Theosophical Society, 17 November 2015. Against a ground graded from gold at the top to deep orange below stands a pale blue ovoid, the Auric Egg, holding a large five-pointed star whose upper limbs are gold and orange and whose lower limbs run through magenta and violet, with a small band of blue and green at the apex.

Above the egg sits a golden crescent and, above that, a black disc bearing a single point of white light — the same three elements, in the same order, as the companion plate. Below it the design changes: the egg rests in a pair of cupped golden hands wreathed in blossom, with a jewelled ornament at the centre holding a large blue stone, the whole supported on a chalice-like base. The caption reads: Man, the Jewel of the Universe. It is a picture rather than a text, and the section list offers it both as a PDF and as a JPEG.
