The Moon Regulates the Prana of Nature and Man

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky · Constitution of Man Series · 8 pages

Additional notes to the Commentary on the Pistis Sophia in Blavatsky Collected Writings XIII, occasioned by the recurrence of the number twelve in that text — a recurrence she calls remarkable and promises to explain further in the astrological portion of the system. Two further facts in nature are offered meanwhile. The first is the dodecahedron, the marvellous Platonic solid for the solution of whose mysteries the whole of the Elements of geometry was designed, defined as a regular solid contained under twelve equal and regular pentagons.

The second is the claim the file takes its name from. Prana, the breath of the human organism, is part of the universal vital principle; the moon has its share in nourishing all organic matter and in regulating the ebb and flow of the prana of nature, and with every phase of the moon the prana of man changes its course. The physiological observation attached to it is specific: that these changes, minutely observed, established that the breath of the human organism changes from right to left and back again every two hours. The epigraph places all this within the integral unity inherent in the multiplicity of the twelve Hierarchies of the Valentinian Pleroma, each of three classes and twelve orders, each category transcending the one before until, in her phrase, the mind totters in the sublimity of the scheme.
