A 33-page compilation from four authors on a term that recurs throughout this section, and the file to consult when it appears elsewhere. The Augoeides is the Higher Self's luminous radiation when freed from the flesh — during incarnation only a shadow, yet the only thing that can redeem the soul. It is identified in turn with Divine Spirit, the seventh and highest principle; with the personal god of every man; and with Atman, the Self, the mighty Lord and Protector who shows his full power to those who can hear the still small voice. It is the Inner Man released from his gross counterpart, bathing in the light of his own essence and reflecting the Spirit of Truth.

The doctrinal core is that man has two souls, Anima Divina and Anima Bruta, and the Augoeides belongs to the first — the soul of the spiritual man lit by its own light, a phrase used as a standing heading across many files in these series. What follows is the account of what illumination actually amounts to: that the man who has conquered matter sufficiently to be illumined by his Augoeides feels the Spirit of Truth intuitionally and cannot err in his judgement; and that the Divine Self then vibrates in conscious harmony with both poles of the human entity — the purified man of matter and the ever-pure spiritual soul. Passages from The Secret Doctrine are supplied to make the position clearer, with Bulwer-Lytton, Mead and Taylor contributing the classical and literary material.
