The reference table the rest of this section assumes, and the file to start from if the scheme is unfamiliar. It is built as a wide chart read across, dividing man into the immortal higher triad — the divine Self, the true individuality, the Sutratman of the Upanishads, the imperishable Monad of Atman, Buddhi and Manas permeated by the one universal life — and the mortal lower tetrad overshadowed by it, the false individuality of the common man who identifies with the personal and the transient.

Each column is then carried down through several registers so that the correspondences line up: the macrocosmic planes from Adi-Buddha, Maha-Buddhi and Mahat down through Fohat, Jiva, the astral and Prakriti; the microcosmic planes answering to them, Atman, Buddhi, the dual mind of Manas, then Kama, Prana, Linga-sharira and the physical body; and beneath those the virtual foci of consciousness — universal Self, spiritual Ego, higher Ego, lower Ego, animal desires, life force, astral body. The physiological correspondences are included too, the heart representing the higher triad as the organ of spiritual consciousness, the liver and spleen the quaternary taken as a whole — a claim given its own file elsewhere in this section.
