Principles and Forces in Nature and Man (Instructions)
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky · Buddhas and Initiates Series · 72 pages
The text that accompanies the single-sheet diagram listed beside it. The compiler's preparatory notes set the framework: the Seven Primordial Lights, manifested from Light Unmanifested, are Divine Principles, and the principles of man are bright reflections of them — a Great Sacrifice, in which the Sons of Light clothed themselves in the Fabric of Darkness. Tattvas and Bhutas are then given as the principles and aspects of cosmos and man, Lokas and Talas as the divine and worldly planes of being, and colours and sounds as spiritual numerals, colour being Spirit or Atman, sound Voice or Buddhi, and proportion of numbers the Word or higher Manas.
A large part of the file is warning rather than instruction. Concerning the secrecy required, and on the practice of concentration, the position is blunt: sitting for yoga is fatal to the ignorant, and woe to the selfish man who seeks occult powers for earthly benefit, revenge or ambition. The technical sections explain why only five tattvas are given in the Indian systems, argue that sound is no attribute at all but the primal correlation of Akasha, and treat Akasha as both the highest tattva and the synthesis of all of them. The table of esoteric and Tantric tattvas that appears here is also issued separately in this section as a printable sheet. The closing pages state that the Masters are unanimously opposed to pranayama, and discuss Ida and Pingala as the middle note of human nature.
