A single landscape sheet, headed Diagram 5, setting out the occult relations between the principles and forces of nature and their correspondence by opposition in man. It is a wide table read across: for each of the elements or Bhutas — Prithivi first — it gives the Loka and its state at the lofty end of the pole, the answering Tala and its state at the degraded end, the corresponding hierarchies and planes, the principle, the sense or Tanmatra, the colour, the mode of consciousness, the organ of sensation, the organ of action, and the corresponding spiritual organ and seat of sensation.

The design of the table is the argument: the divine and the infernal columns are set against one another so that each pair can be read as two ends of one pole rather than as two separate lists. The first row shows how it works — Bhurloka as the habitat of thinking and good men in the psychic state, against Patala as the dwelling of man's gross animal body and the state of infancy, innocent at one pole and instinctual at the other.
