Drawing 4: Neophyte Ascending to the Christ Condition

Philaletheians UK · Buddhas and Initiates Series · 1 page

The fourth Drawing, and the answering half of the pair begun by the third. Where that showed the neophyte dying in the Chrestos condition, this shows what follows — the ascent to the Christ condition, which the tradition treats as a second birth rather than a reward.

The caption is the fullest of the five and states the doctrine compactly: the death of the senses and of the flesh of the long-suffering Chrestos, and the resurrection of his spiritual Ego — the initiate reborn in the world spiritually, the Christos in each one of us. That last clause is the one to carry away, since it makes explicit what the whole section argues: that the figure depicted is not a person in history but a condition available to anyone who passes through the trials. Presented April 2017 in the Integrative Theosophical Studies series, and offered as a PDF for printing and a JPG for screen.
