Its subject connects it to several of the longer studies in this section and elsewhere in the library: the doctrine that the states of consciousness have visible correlates, that these can be represented, and that the trance state of the yogin is distinguishable from the trance of the medium — a distinction the Black versus White Magic series argues at length in words. The plate belongs with the five numbered Drawings further down this same section list, which set out the corresponding states diagrammatically.
