Sixty-eight pages, and the most documentary of the long studies in this batch. Its stated purpose is to bring the principles and influence of the Society of Jesus into the open, to reveal the hitherto secret ciphers of the so-called higher Masonic degrees, to exhibit examples of Jesuit cryptography, and to set out a high Mason's own critical strictures upon Masonry itself — so that the criticism it carries runs in both directions.

The opening sections are about the Zohar of Rabbi Shimon ben Yohai, and make a claim the rest depends on: that neither the Zohar nor any other kabbalistic volume contains merely Jewish wisdom, the doctrine being the result of whole millenniums of thought and the joint property of the adepts of every nation under the sun. The Masonic instruction mouth to ear, and the word at low breath is traced to the Tannaim and the old pagan Mysteries; Paracelsus is said to have passed through true initiation; Elias Ashmole is called the first operative Mason of any consequence and the last of the Rosicrucians and alchemists. The later sections cite a French parliamentary report on the Society and quote its precepts, several of which, the text notes, the report found impossible to print except in Latin.
